Deep leather, a fireplace at one end, and the unhurried quiet of a room kept for members.

Light held low under a coffered wooden ceiling, buttoned leather drawn up around a carved table, and the Club’s shooting history on the walls — a rifle in its case, trophies framed in the panelling. It is the room for a long coffee and a conversation that needs no audience, or for an hour with the afternoon’s play on the screen and the sound kept down.
